Every year in March there is a local competition in Var for vineyards producing wine regarding the IGP regulations. The competition has been going on since 1996 with the purpose to develope the brand of IGP wines in Provence. The Concours des Soleils du Var ensures that all awarded samples represent the quality demanded regarding wines from this local area.

230 wines from 77 vineyards are tested by agents, oenologists and restaurant owners during one day. The winners get a poster which they can use in marketing and also a label to put on all rewardes wine bottles. Since this brand is so well known in the area all customers emmediately recognice the symbol as a mark for good quality wines.
